Twelve Step Program For Russia's Recovery, part 2

10. Establish govt. level commission to review land claims from dispossessed owners (and their legal heirs) of estates, properties during communist rule, 1917-1991. Set aside govt. funds to pay claims if necessary.
Return stolen lands, estates, properties to former owners or their legal descendants.
Establish govt. bank to lend out money to restore properties at low or minimal interest rates for extended terms-up to 40 years. Return churches to respective church organizations. Have govt. committee examine disputes. Return all properties (libraries, books, art, etc.) to former owners or their legal descendants. Streamline process. If item is considered patrimonial, govt. has first option to buy from owners. Offer to house valuable objects in museums as negotiated with owners.

11. Create govt. commission to re-establish restoration of monarchy in Russia. Allow for national input on this question. Ban communist party in Russia as criminal and illegal organization. Ban any public display of communist symbols. Have church declare nation-wide 40 day strict fast.

12. Establish judicial committee to investigate murder of Imperial Family. Publish all findings.

  1. While I agree with the sentiment involved in a desire to ban the communist party in Russia, I can't help but see a certain irony here: didn't the communist party ban religion? With all due respect (and I know you believe me on that count), I think it would be ill-advised to criminalize the belief in communism, in much the same way that it is ill-advised to criminalize the belief in God. I am no supporter of communism, but FORCING its rejection is as tyrannical (in my opinion) as communism itself.

  2. I agree with you. However, Russia requires this in the immediate future. Perhaps later, when the evils and horrors of communism are in the distant past, Russia can "legalize" communism.
Germany is an example of this with symbols of the Nazi regime. It is illegal in Germany to have the flag of the old regime displayed.
I suggest Russia follow Germany's good example-at least for the next several decades.
